HOW TO SEARCH FOR DOCUMENTS OWNED BY OUR LIBRARY
On-line cataloging of the heritage is underway, partly already available to the URL www.librinlinea.it (select Civica di Saluzzo – TO059). The volumes belonging to our library are indicated in the note with the words “presso Istituto per i Beni Musicali in Piemonte”.
All the owned material is inventoried and searchable in the list of the site under the heading Inventory.
The library is also a documentation center about the musical and musicological production raelized in the territory.
At the seat it’s possible to consult the inventory and the staff is available to search for documents.
The library offers reading and consultation rooms to study its heritage.
It is possible to use web services through internet points for bibliographic query and for didactic, study and research reasons.
The library staff provides the following services: catalog review; musicians’s opera omnia; bibliographic tools; searching for bibliographic material, informations and data.
In the library rooms there is a professional system equipped with record player, tape players, cassette players, CD players, mp3 players, through which you can listen to any type of preserved sound document.
WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS
By school requests is possible to arrange a guided tour of the library and the participation in different types of laboratories (eg: the time transformation of audio supports, online bibliographic research, the writing of a bibliography for research and thesis). Is also possible to write in-depth monographs dedicated to individual composers or musicians or historical periods.
TERRITORIAL NETWORK INSTITUTIONS
The library is one of the institutions of the territory with which it conducts exchanges for consultation, presentations of books, guided tours within tourist routes, and curating concert programs. It is currently collaborating with the High Musical Specialization, the Civic Library, the city museum pole and it is available to start new projects with other cultural institutions, even in neighboring municipalities.
The center also wants to be a point of dissemination of the musical culture. In this sense it organizes training and updating courses in the musical field for teachers of all levels.
Bibliography and musical documentation courses can also be activated, as well as tools and methods for bibliographic reserach for groups requesting them.
The library offers itself as an institution available to welcome second-level secondary school students for activities related to school-work alternation. In parallel with a training course (to learn about the reality in which they operate and the tools necessary to work with them), the students are guided to the main activities carried out by the Documentation Center. The skills acquired can be transferred to the other environments.
